Sydnee's Sensory Garden
Gold Award 2020-21
In the simplest terms, my Gold Award Project was to create and plan a sensory garden at Patriot Park, near the South Hanover Township Building.

Below you will see pictures and short descriptions of what steps I took to complete my Gold Award!
Before I began my project, my first step was to plan and present my Gold Award Project Plan to the Board of Supervisors at the South Hanover Township Building.

This is the original gazebo area, the space for the garden.

A few girls from Troop $11943 completed their Silver Award, by adding a textured walkway to the garden!

To kill the grass and prepare the ground, we solarized!
(Solarization is the process of layering cardboard and newspaper to let the sun's heat kill the grass.)
Next, we marked the area of the garden and prepared the ground and grass to be solarized!

Once the grass was killed, we spread piles of topsoil over the area, followed by mushroom soil over top!

Finishing touches will be done in the Spring of 2021!

Finally, time to plant!!
